Stop the Destruction in Okinawa!

Despite an overwhelming number of pleas and petitions to Prime Minister Abe, President Trump, President Obama and other world leaders, the combined U.S. and Japanese governments are RIGHT NOW destroying one of the planets oldest coral reefs and ecosystems to build a new U.S. Marine Corps base on an island where the U.S. already has more than 40 bases!

In April 2019, the government began pouring soil, sand and concrete onto the aforementioned reef. The relocation plan originated from an agreement reached between the Japanese and U.S. governments in 1996, after public anger was fueled by the 1995 gang rape of an Okinawa girl by three U.S. servicemen. But progress has been slow, with many residents hoping the base will be removed from the prefecture altogether.
